Weapons Issue Barbarians, Cobras, Executioners, and Hellcats

Equipment issue is always exciting and getting your very first military weapon like the M14 is pretty epic...even if it is a training rifle.  Now that the Basics have thier new best friends to lug around, they will start to learn how to properly carry, salute and maintain thier M14.

The M14, is an American select-fire battle rifle that fires 7.62×51mm NATO (.308 in) ammunition. It became the standard-issue rifle for the U.S. military in 1959 replacing the M1 Garand rifle in the U.S. Army by 1958 and the U.S. Marine Corps by 1965 until being replaced by the M16 rifle beginning in 1968.

Today Barbarians, Cobras, Executioners, and Hellcats were issued thier weapons and those photos have been edited and loaded into their squadron gallery. Each flight did things differently.  Some flights stopped and gave instructions on how to hold the rifle, stand at easy while holding a rifle and other various rifle etiquette. Some moved in formation straight to the Terrazzo and Vandenberg Hall.  This is partly why there are differences in the number of photos per squadron. Also, as noted in previous blogs, WebGuy has events for each squadron scheduled and we try to capture every squadron/flight.  But schedules change, either the time or location or day.  Today the Hellcats started much earlier than our schedule showed and we were not notified.  This means that we were only able to capture a few photos of two flights. Cobras appeared to have had only four flights go through at the scheduled time.
