2019 Exemplar Dinner

Exemplar Dinner was this past Friday for the Class of 2019, which honored their Exemplar Astronaut Neil Armstrong.

Since the Class of 2000, each class has chosen someone who "exemplifies" the type of person the class wishes to emulate.

"The history and purpose behind the Exemplar Program is to provide a clear and visible attachment to the great leaders of the past for a new generation of air leaders who will face new challenges in the next millennium and beyond. The Class Exemplar serves as the honorary leader of the class, setting its personality and character."

The goal of the Cadet Exemplar Program is to build officers with a strong foundation in our nation's and our military's heritage in order to advance into the future as a united aerospace force.

This year, there were three Guest Speakers. Mr. Mike Goode ’69 who is one of the Class of 2019's Legacy Class members.  Mr. Rick Armstrong, the son of Neil Armstrong and Mr. Lars Hoffman, the director of Govt. Sales for SpaceX.

We will be adding a highlight video tomorrow from the Exemplar Dinner so be sure to check back. We will update you when it has been added to this blog!

"The Exemplar Challenge Coin was created by the Exemplar Milestone Committee. Input was received from the cadet’s class council on elements that were important to them and why they chose Neil Armstrong as their class Exemplar. Below the translucent black on the face shield, you see Armstrong saluting the flag. As you look at the actual coin, you will see a reflection of yourself in the face mask. The cadets requested this element as a symbol that they can see themselves as accomplishing great things." 2019 Spirit Mission Committee
