WebGuy Website Tutorial 101

Hello All,

Thought we'd take a few minutes to provide some info on how to use this WebGuy website.  If you are reading this, you have already figured out how to get to the website, so I will start by talking about how to find the photos.

Welcome to your Picture Assitance Blog or How to find BCT Photos 101!

Click on the “Classes” tab on the top right of page. There will be a drop down menu with several class years. Please select the appropriate class year.  For most of you, it will be 2023.

You should then be on the appropriate class page. (See image below). Currently, there are two folders for Class 2023.  In the example below there are 3. You can look for that third one to pop up on Monday.  Swearing in photos are in the BCT-1 folder and are all located under "ALL"  Soon we will begin to sort photos by squadron.  If you are looking for a certain squadron click on BCT-1 and there will be a drop down menu of squadrons. Select your squadron.

Then you should be in the squadron gallery of your choice. We like to sort newest too oldest, this way the newest pictures come up first.  Thumbnails of photos are low resolution, but the photo you download will be high resolution.  Downloading and saving the pictures files to your computer is very straightforward, but here is a link to FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

If you are using your phone, looking at the gallery view there’s a download button under each picture, and when looking at the zoomed view (clicked on the picture) there’s an icon in the upper right that looks like a cloud and a down arrow.

We hope this tutorial helped those of you that are/were struggling and will always be here as a good refresher as the summer goes on.

I would like to talk a bit more here about expectations.  As has been previously mentioned, while we’d love to cover each squadron every day that is not always going to happen.  Be prepared that you might have a day with no coverage and the next day have hundreds of pictures to sort through! For example, since each squadron has five flights who train separately.  Even though we may be covering say Cobras, we may not get every flight, since they don't do things at the same time.  Please don't keep score.  We have no way to tell which flight is which, only the squadron color.  Many factors including, but not limited to, security access, training schedule, legal rules, & weather are all limiting factors.  We know not all of you are new parents to WebGuy.  Please keep in mind that year-to-year things change and no year of Basic is the same on any level, including pictures! We have worked hard to be sure that by the end of BCT, each squadron has the same level of coverage. Our goal is to tell the story of BCT.  With that said, we are able to share as many pictures as possible and hopefully most of those are of your basic!

We will tell you here where you can look for new photos each day.   There will be lots of coverage right through the weekend.  The beginning of next week will be light as the basics are going to be doing a lot of academic testing in classrooms.  We can't cover that, but there will still be lots of content, and you can also catch up on what we will have posted to that time.  We will get more into how things will work during BCT 2 and Jack's Valley as we roll along.

Lastly, we know what the training schedule is for every day, but it can change for all the reason already mentioned.  Generally we will be blogging about what has already happened.  Since this is the Air Force and things always remain fluid, we don't want to promise coverage that we end up not being able to provide.

Ok.  That's it for now.  Enjoy the swearing in photos.  We'll be back at you tomorrow.
