California Dreaming Night
This past Wednesday, the California Parent Clubs got together and hosted their first ever California Dreaming Night. All cadets from California were invited along with their friends.
Check in started at 4:00pm and each of the Cadets cadets got wristbands for food and raffle tickets for prizes.
Arnold Hall was decorated head to toe with everything California. There were plenty of things to do before dinner was served like a photo booth with crazy props, a candy station, and little games at each table.
The night got kicked off with some California trivia with your table as your team. To participate, the Cadets had to sit at a table with a minimum of 3 Cadets and a max of 6. They had to follow instragram tag @californial_dreamin_usafa, then only one person at each table could post to the tag during each trivia question. To win, they had to post the correct answer, their table number and all of the names of the Cadets at their table.
Soon it was time for dinner! On the menu was BJ’s Brewhouse, who graciously donated all the food for the night which was over $9,000 worth of food! Needless to say the cadets were well fed and even got seconds. But let’s not forget about dessert, a crowd favorite the PIZOOKIE!
After everyone was full it was time for a dance off. The best dancer from every table was sent up front to show off their moves. The top three dancers were awarded prizes and bragging rights. Next up was the raffle for the top prizes like a Southwest Voucher of $400! Among the prizes were tickets to Disneyland, Universal Studios, Oakley glasses, and many other great prizes. After all the top prizes were gone, the next contest started called the “Shout Out.” The loudest person at each table was brought up to the stage and had to yell “California Rules” as loud as they could. This happened to be pretty funny because most participants struggled to yell the full phase, one guy couldn’t yell “rules” so instead it was “CALIFORNIA ROLLS”. As the night came to an end, the rest of the prizes were raffled off…and there were a lot.
As cadets left they were given goodie bags filled with candy and other treats, so no one left empty handed. It was an awesome night and we had so much fun covering the event. The California Parent Clubs did an amazing job, can’t wait till they come back!
