Swim Screener
During Basic Cadet Training (BCT) at USAFA THIS WEEK, basics undergo an aquatic screening to evaluate their water comfort and swimming abilities. Basics who lack baseline proficiency are assigned to foundational swim classes during their academic years to ensure they are fully prepared for graduation.
The standard aquatic screening generally measures the following:
- Treading Water: Ability to stay afloat for a period of time.
- Floating: Ability to rest and float in the water without exhaustion.
- Basic Stroke Efficiency: 25 yards for efficency
- Freestyle Stroke - 25 yards for efficnecy
