Web Guy Spotlight
Web Guy Spotlight is back and this is where we dig deep and highlight Groups and Clubs here at USAFA. Let us know what clubs and groups you would like to see!
Today we bring you the Parachute team of WOB (Wings of Blue) here at the USAFA.
The Wings of Blue are far more than a demonstration team. They serve as instructors for Basic Freefall courses, represent the Academy across the nation, and help inspire future officers through their commitment to airmanship and service. Their success depends on a continuous cycle of training, mentorship, and leadership development that begins with the Wings of Green.
Watching a Wings of Green( who do this during their Sophomore year) training jump offers a glimpse into the future of the program. Beneath canopies spread across the Colorado sky are cadets learning to master their craft while earning the privilege of joining one of the Academy's most respected teams. Every jump builds confidence. Every lesson develops leadership. Every landing brings them one step closer to becoming members of the Wings of Blue.
At the conclusion of the year-long program, successful Wings of Green members participate in the traditional Bluesuit Ceremony, marking their official transition into the Wings of Blue. It is the culmination of months of hard work, dedication, and training, and the beginning of a new chapter as instructors, mentors, and ambassadors for the U.S. Air Force Academy.
The Wings of Blue team will jump up to 3 days a week, with about 15 jumps per week. The team also practices at IFly 1 to 2 times a week. The Formation team has a 2 way and 4 way team. This year we have the first all female 2 way, with Lisa Fitzgerald and Caroline Theis.
